DJPC BUILD FOR PEACE WORKATHON
Dear friends of Justice and Peace: We are excited to invite you to join the Denver Justice & Peace Committee in our annual Fall Build for Peace fundraiser and community service project. The date is set for Saturday, October 13, from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. We will be working with Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver, who build and repair homes with low-income families. (http://www.habitatmetrodenver.org). We are particularly looking to foster participation from people new to DJPC or from those long-time members who haven’t been able to participate in the past or this spring. A little about Build for Peace… Work done in the past has included painting houses and fixing porches as well as landscaping, carpentry, etc. Volunteers solicit pledges for the hours of work they will put in and/or flat donations. All monies raised go towards DJPC’s work for peace and justice in Latin America. If you are interested in participating, there are two main requirements: 1) You must raise funds to support DJPC’s work and make use of all Build for Peace materials provided to you by the coordinator (e.g. draft of solicitation letters, FAQs sheets, etc.), and, 2) You must come for the scheduled October 13th Build for Peace work day and enjoy working in solidarity and in good company with other DJPC members and supporters.
