Call for Nominations for the 2023 Global Justice and Peace Award

The Denver Justice and Peace Committee board of directors invites you to send nominations for the Global Justice and Peace Award. The recipient should be a person or an organization doing exemplary work, in solidarity with the people of Latin America.

Nominations should include: (1) A description of why the individual or group should be considered, and (2) How their work is aligned with DJPC’s mission. Send your nominations to: [email protected] by July 17th 2023.

Past recipients include: Black Fraternal Organization of Honduras, OFRANEH (2022), Sônia Guajajara Brazilian activist (2021); Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (2020); Jean Wyllys Brazilian activist (2019); Association of Communities for Development and the Defense of Land and Natural Resources (Guatemala 2018); The National Roudtable Against Metallic Mining El Salvador (2017); Otros Mundos Chiapas (2016); Aviva Chomsky (2015); Upside Down World (2014); The Network in Solidarity with Guatemala – NISGUA (2013); Rights Action (2012); Earthworks (2011); Grufides (2010); Debajo del Agua (2009), School of the Americas Watch (1998).

DJPC Board of Directors will make an announcement of the recipient of the Award by the end of July. We expect to celebrate Awards Night in late October or 1st week of November, this year we are going to attempt to have a hybrid event, more details will to be announce in August.
