Announcing the 2025 Global Justice and Peace Awardee: AFSC

The Board of Directors of the DJPC is honored to announce the recipients of this year’s Global Justice & Peace Award and the John Proctor Organizer Award. The recipients will receive the awards during our Annual Awards Night to be celebrated on November 7th at 6 pm at Convivio Café

Global Justice and Peace Award 2025 goes to: The American Friends Service Committee – Migration and Immigration Rights Program

John Proctor Organizer Award this year goes to Jennifer Piper, Program Co-Director for AFSC Denver. For over two decades Piper has worked extensively to challenge the inhumane immigration system in close collaboration with legal advocates and directly impacted community, finding policy solutions for individuals as well as for the larger community.

AFSC grounds it’s work in the worth and dignity of every person and a just and peaceful world for all. Committed to advance fair and welcoming immigration policies they:

  • Conduct Know Your Rights trainings: To prepare immigrants, their families, and other community members for interactions with ICE and Border Patrol agents.
  • Provide legal and social services: Help thousands of people secure release from detention, apply for asylum, and navigate ICE check-ins. Support community protection networks operating 24-hour hotlines.
  • Support people who are deported from the U.S.: By providing humanitarian aid, documenting human rights violations, and advocating for policy change in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.
  • Challenging fear with love: Pushing back against the fear that politicians use to divide us, lifting up the many contributions immigrants make to our communities.
  • Support immigrant-led advocacy for systemic change: Resisting the expansion of detention centers through public demonstrations and letters to elected officials. Advocating for welcoming, dignified, and just immigration policies.
